There are all sorts of good things that happen at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. But the best, and most important, is our gathering together for worship. Here are a few things you can expect to experience when you worship with us.
- You can expect to be greeted by our members. We love having visitors and sharing with them how it is that Jesus continues to work among us in worship through the preaching and hearing and singing and praying of His Word.
- For that IS how Jesus continues to work among us, that is, when He, through His Holy Spirit (John 16:5-15), continues to dwell in our hearts. So in our worship service you are offered the forgiveness of sins through Christ, you are taught the ways of Christ, you are comforted with the peace of Christ, and your needs are heard through prayer in the name of Christ!
- We use a well-worn order of service at Prince of Peace. Some call it traditional. Maybe “vintage” would be better. That really does not matter. What matters is that it is a way of worship anchored in the Holy Scriptures, and shaped by the worship of Christians both throughout the centuries and the world. It is not hard to learn, but it may take a few visits to grow familiar with it. The result? Great comfort as you hear and read and sing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and with it, receive the forgiveness we all need!
- And yes, we do like to sing at Prince of Peace! Music to us is a precious gift of God meant to help us worship God together using the same thoughts and expressions just like the choir of angels that announced the birth of Jesus (Luke 2:13-14)! No, you don’t need to sing. But when you hear the congregation, the choirs, the children and our beautiful organ you will want to!
- You will hear the Word of God at Prince of Peace. The entire Bible is the Word of God inspired by the Holy Spirit of God. All of our teaching and life in Jesus Christ is based on the Bible. You will hear and sing parts of the Bible in the order of worship, in the hymns we sing, the readings from Scripture that are part of every service, and in the sermon preached by the pastor–which is always based on a text from the Bible!
- You will hear about Jesus. Every week. Why? Jesus is the key to the Bible. He is the reason the Bible was written. So the Gospel of John: “These things are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing, you may have life in His name!” (John 20:31).
- You will have access to our pastor–before and after the service. Do you have a question about Jesus? About Christianity? About faith? About life? Our pastor is there to help!
